Music Saturday, Dec. 13th-before & after parade
December 10, 2008
Stop by the store before the Ashland City Christmas parade starts (at 6:30 pm). You will enjoy browsing through the great variety of gifts and books – I know you’ll see unique finds for someone on your list – while listening to ROBERT’S live classical guitar and more.
Grab some coffee or hot chocolate to savor during the parade, then stop by inside for another concert by JEFF MILLER right after the parade. You can hear him on our site (the store walk through was done during one of his concerts here) and on his site (JeffMillerNashville) and at myspace. It will be a pleasant performance by a young man who went to Berklee Music School and now abides in the Nashville area and tours all around the South, East, and more.
The Music is FREE, the prices at the coffee/snack bar are $1 and $2, the prices for bookstore gifts (includes cds, dvds, jewelry, wall hangings, books and journals) vary to fit everyone’s pocketbooks, but the atmosphere and fellowship is priceless! And, as always, the music is top notch!
John Milton
December 8, 2008
This Tuesday, Dec. 9th, marks the 400th year since the great English poet John Milton was born. Many people are celebrating by having public readings of Paradise Lost. I took note of one post on NPR after the article (that I heard on air Sunday) that said “Paradise Lost is how the secularist learned the beauty and power of the Bible.” I’m not a Milton expert, but one of my very favorite poems for over 30 years is “On His Blindness,” which was written, as was the epic Paradise Lost, as Milton was or was becoming blind.
Linda McRae – Free concert*Sat. Dec. 6th !
December 6, 2008
We’ve been enjoying Linda’s CARVE IT TO THE HEART cd, full of old time tunes, with a touch of western, new and old roots country. Read this review of this, her 3rd cd:
“Creem Magazine, USA, Jeffrey Morgan Don’t let the cute cherub on the front cover fool ya ’cause Linda’s slicin’ up some of the blowziest country blooze music you’ll hear in a tune’s age. The wall of sound sonics are so thick you’ll want to devour it with a fork–but use a spoon instead because you’ll want to get every drop. Mmm mmm good!”
